OTR24
Mobile
OTR24 Mobile is a cross-platform healthcare appointment booking application for the Austrian market. It lets patients browse, search, and book appointments with over 100 participating doctors across Austria, directly from their smartphone.
The app integrates with the established otr24.at web platform, meaning the 115,000+ users already registered on the site can sign in with their existing credentials from day one. New patients can also register directly within the app.
OTR24 Mobile is our Diplomarbeit, the capstone thesis project of the HTL Dornbirn curriculum. It was developed by a team of three students during our internship at WEBMED GmbH, the Vorarlberger company behind the otr24.at platform, which commissioned the project.
The Diplomarbeit is a multi-semester undertaking that runs alongside regular coursework and culminates in a formal presentation before a panel of examiners. Building a production-ready mobile app for a real client with a real user base was both the challenge and the goal.
I wore two hats on this project: engineer and project manager.
REST API
I designed and built the Express.js REST API that bridges the React Native frontend with WEBMED's existing database infrastructure, covering authentication flows compatible with existing otr24.at accounts, doctor search and filtering, and the appointment booking logic.
Project Management
As PM I was responsible for planning the roadmap, distributing tasks, maintaining communication with WEBMED GmbH, and ensuring the team hit the milestones required for the Diplomarbeit timeline. This meant translating client requirements into actionable technical specs and keeping everything on track.
